The opening of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences' Nature Research Center is only a few weeks away, and we are finding out more about the celebration that accompanies it.

The NRC will hold its 24-hour grand opening on Friday, April 20. The party starts at 5 p.m. and will include street performers and music.

Experimental band Gang Gang Dance has also joined the festivities. Hopscotch Music Fest announced this week that it will present the band at 11:30 p.m.

All of the events are free.

The Nature Research Center will include hands-on research opportunities for visitors, a WRAL Weather studio and prediction center where you can create your own forecast models.

We will have more information about the museum and the celebration as it gets closer.
