DURHAM, N.C. — Four people were seriously injured Saturday night in a single-car wreck in Durham, according to police.

Officials said the wreck happened just before midnight when a 1999 Acura, traveling eastbound on Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard, took the exit ramp toward the University Drive/Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway intersection and lost control.

The car crossed the southbound exit lanes, hit the median wall and overturned, according to invesigators. The vehicle fell approximately 15 feet and came to rest in the northbound lanes of Durham-Chapel Hill Bouelvard.

The four occupants of the Acura – two 17-year-old males and two 19-year-old males – suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital.

According to police, officers had attempted to stop the vehicle earlier for traffic violations.
