Four charged in Oxford convenience store shooting

Rodriquez Teshawn Thomas, 24, Larissa Nicosha Comer, 18, Rodicka E'nyia Rivers, 20, and Tonielle Shydea Curtis, 19, all face charges in the death of Musleh Mohamed Qayed, who was found dead shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Family Market on U.S. Highway 15. 

Thomas, of 203 Elm St., Oxford, is charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Comer, also of 203 Elm St., Oxford, and Rivers, of 107 Longwood Drive, Creedmoor, and Curtis, of 102 B Griffin St., Oxford, are each charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and accessory after the fact.

All four were in the Granville County jail Saturday and will make their first court appearances Oct. 9. Thomas was being held under no bond, and Comer, Rivers and Curtis were being held under $150,000 bonds.

According to Granville County Sheriff Brindell Wilkins, Kuayed was shot in the chest with a shotgun during an apparent robbery. The store did not have a working surveillance camera system.

People who regularly stop at the store said Wednesday that Qayed went out of his way to brighten their day.

"He was really sweet. He was a really nice man," said Cassandra Ward.

"He was really a nice person," said Novella Williams. "I don't know if anyone could say anything bad about him."
