FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Fort Bragg officials are investigating the death of an Army private killed this weekend in what appears to be a hit-and-run.

A spokesman for the military post said the 20-year-old soldier was walking along Bragg Boulevard around 1:40 a.m. Saturday when he was struck and killed near Guber Road.

Fayetteville police conducting a DWI checkpoint noticed damage to a 21-year-old woman's car and, after questioning her, contacted the Army Criminal Investigation Command at Fort Bragg.

The CID has not released any other information about the case, including the driver's name or whether she faces any charges in the death.
