Fort Bragg serves as FEMA distribution point for flood relief
At Fort Bragg on Monday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) staged hundreds of tractor trailers ready to roll out with flood relief for the Carolinas.
Posted — Updated"Fort Bragg is perfectly located halfway between New York and Florida along the I-95 corridor," said post spokesman Tom McCollum.
"We have the ability and the long-term relationship, working with FEMA, to get their supplies in, get their supplies out and meet their needs here so they can concentrate on their operation."
Trucks on the tarmac Monday at Simmons Army Air Field contained everything from diapers and other baby supplies to generators enough to power a small city.
"We provide a large, heavy area, such as this tarmac, which is secured and eases operations," McCollum said. "Then we also have the ability to supply them with daily logistical needs."
