FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Beginning Feb. 18, about 2,400 students who were in remote learning will pack up the computers and bring them back to the 11 schools on Fort Bragg for in-person learning.

Garrison Commander Col. Scott Pence said they have one objective "to make sure that our Department of Defense Education Activity Schools are using all those techniques for social distancing and COVID mitigation."

"Our Fort Bragg Public Health team was an immense help for all the teachers and administrators at the schools," said Pence.

Arrows along hallways will mark the flow of student traffic, and inside the classrooms, desks will be spaced out and hand washing stations and hand sanitizers will be available.

First through eighth graders will return on Feb. 18, while kindergartners will return a day later on Feb. 19, and pre-schoolers will come back three days after that, on Feb. 22.

"I think I'm going to get better in it because it's a whole lot different because of learning and you're not actually with the teacher," said student Makiyah Reavey.

The children of parents who elected for virtual learning in December for this semester will continue online schooling. There is no opportunity this semester for students enrolled in virtual learning to transition to in-person attendance.

Fort Bragg says there are no additional changes to on-base facilities and that all installation operations, with the exception of schools, will continue with the current mitigation measures.
