Fort Bragg has new garrison commander

Col. Jeffrey M. Sanborn assumed the role of garrison commander at Fort Bragg from outgoing Commander Col. Stephen Sicinski during a ceremony Thursday morning.

Col. Jeffrey M. Sanborn assumed the role of garrison commander at Fort Bragg from outgoing Commander Col. Stephen Sicinski during a ceremony Thursday morning.

Sanborn recently graduated from the U.S. Army War College after serving as the inspector general of the 82nd Airborne Division.

He began his military career as an artilleryman with the 82nd Airborne and later graduated from the U.S. Military Academy as an artillery officer.

He served most of his career with the 82nd Airborne, deploying to Iraq, Afghanistan and to the Haiti earthquake response in 2011 as the commander of 2nd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment.

Sicinski departs Fort Bragg after three years in command of the Fort Bragg garrison, having presided over the completion of the 2005 base realignment and closure movements, construction of the Warriors in Transition complex and leadership during the April 2011 tornado strike on the post.
