RALEIGH, N.C. — Former WRAL-TV and Fox 50 anchor Jackie Hyland has been named the public information officer for the State Board of Elections.

"Jackie brings a wealth of experience to the position," elections board Executive Director Kim Westbrook Strach said in a statement. "We are thrilled she chose to serve our state’s voters during a critical time for elections in North Carolina."

Hyland, who worked at WRAL and Fox 50 for more than three years before leaving in June, succeeds Josh Lawson, who was promoted in August to general counsel for the elections board. Her annual salary is $67,998.
