Former volleyball coach faces indecent liberties charges

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Triangle area volleyball coach was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual offenses against minors.

John Peter Skatrud coached at North Carolina State University from March 2, 2001, to Jan. 15, 2004, and more recently for the Capital City Volleyball Club. He was not an employee of either team at the time of his arrest.

He was a physical education teacher at Yates Mill Elementary School until his resignation Tuesday.

Skatrud had a first court appearance Wednesday on two counts of indecent liberties with a child and two counts of indecent liberties with a student. He was being held on $150,000 bond.
