GARNER, N.C. — A former North Carolina Highway Patrol trooper is facing his second charge of driving while impaired this year.

Garner police arrested John C. Fogg at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday and charged him with DWI, authorities said. He was also cited for impersonating an officer, according to authorities.

Fogg was working for the Highway Patrol when he was charged in June with DWI. He was arrested after he crashed his personal vehicle into another car in Durham County.

He was released from his job as a trooper after an internal investigation into that incident. He had worked as a trooper for less than 2 years.
