RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County Board of Education on Tuesday named former elementary school principal Carolyn Morrison to fill the term of Beverley Clark, who resigned from the board last month.

Clark represented District 6 on the school board, and her term runs through November 2011.

Morrison was a teacher at Green Elementary School and was principal at Lynn Road Elementary School and Root Elementary School. She also taught at Peace College and Campbell University.

She is the most recent addition to a board in transition. Members Eleanor Goettee, Patti Head and Lori Millberg aren't running for re-election this fall, and school board Chairwoman Rosa Gill was recently named to the state House to finish the term of former state Rep. Dan Blue, who moved to the Senate following the death of Sen. Vernon Malone.

Horace Tart is the only incumbent school board member on the ballot this fall.

Morrison, the wife of Senior Administrative Law Judge Fred Morrison Jr., will be sworn in next week.
