Former Princeville town manager pleads guilty
The man who was town manager of Princeville from December 2003 to August 2009 pleaded guilty Monday to charges he misused funds while in office.

Former Town Manager Sam Knight and Tarboro resident Mark Richardson each pleaded guilty to 13 counts of obtaining property by false pretense and one count of conspiracy to commit false pretenses. Both men were sentenced to house arrest, and a judge ordered Knight to repay $25,000 to the town within 90 days.
The case stemmed from a State Bureau of Investigation probe into the town's handling of Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster funds after Hurricane Floyd in 1999.
Knight’s indictment did not include charges that he abused or mishandled relief money.
Court documents charged that Knight approved town invoices paid to Williams Surveying Co. in Richardson's name. Investigators alleged that company did no work and never existed.
