SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A former Johnston County sheriff's deputy was arrested this week on five felony counts of second-degree sexual exploitation.

Arrest warrants allege that Dennis Gerald Jones, 61, of Selma, had videos and photos on his computer of children engaged in sex acts with adults.

Search warrants in the case also allege that, at one point, a teenage girl he knew provided nude or illicit photos of herself in exchange for Jones driving her places.

The girl told State Bureau of Investigation agents that Jones also touched her inappropriately.

Jones, who worked with the Johnston County Sheriff's Office as a special deputy in the 1980s, was in the Johnston County jail Thursday under a $200,000 bond.
