Former Dole aide heads new nonprofit promoting low taxes

"We're not the least bit interested or involved in party politics," Warshaw said.

Rather, he said, the group wants to push a fiscally conservative philosophy rather than any one tax proposal or candidate.

"We're talking to the Raleigh echo chamber, that's our audience," he said.   

"We think Ronald Reagan helps us make the point," Warshaw said, adding that the former president will likely show up in future radio spots.

As for who is backing the group, Warshaw said Economic Growth NC is a small organization with three board members and a small budget.
