For Moms: Fashion designer Nanette Lepore stops in Raleigh for local bike charity event

I thought I'd highlight this event that's best for moms (and dads), but supports a great local group that raises money to buy new bikes and helmets for local kids.

Bikes lined up to give away in December 2014 through Triangle Spokes Group

I thought I'd highlight this event that's best for moms (and dads), but supports a great local group that raises money to buy new bikes and helmets for local kids.

Fashion designer Nanette Lepore will make her first visit to the Triangle for a fashion show and personal fittings at Saks Fifth Avenue at Triangle Town Center in north Raleigh. Ten percent of the store's sales for the day and a matching 10 percent from Nanette Lepore will be donated to Triangle Spokes Group, a local nonprofit.

The event is noon to 4 p.m., Saturday. The fashion show starts at 1 p.m. There are a limited number of front row VIP seats, which are available for just a $25 donation to Triangle Spokes. Each seat will have a swag bag with some Saks and Nanette Lepore goodies inside.

Triangle Spokes Group is in its ninth year. The group has given away more than 3,100 bikes to local children during the holidays. Every penny raised goes to the cost of bikes and helmets. Co-founders Jenn Nowalk and Ashley Wilson cover all of the overhead costs out of their pockets, I'm told.
