This week the newest “movie and dinner concept” Cinebistro announced they would officially open on Sept. 4 in Cary’s Waverly Place. CineBistro features a chef-run kitchen offering creative American Bistro cuisine and full in-theatre service. Meals are available to you whether you are joining them for a movie or not. Get tickets and all the details here.

Coming soon

Reader Rebecca Calhoun tipped me off to the fact that El Cerro in at Falls Village in Raleigh has closed. The location has a sign announcing that Mi Cancun Mexican Restaurant is coming soon. I can’t help but think it is related to the Mi Cancun in Morrisville’s Grace Park. We will keep you posted.
The Triangle’s newest location of The Egg & I announced a grand opening date of Aug. 31. They will have a “training” day on August 30th (reservations are required and donations to The Carying Place are appreciated).
Luna Rotisserie & Empanadas has opened in downtown Durham at 112 W. Main St. Luna focuses on South American cuisine. Congratulations to owner/chef Shawn Stokes.
The Triangle Business Journal reported that Vegan Flava Cafe, a new vegetarian and vegan restaurant, is opening in the former Blue Note Grill space at 4125 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd. The grand opening is scheduled for Aug. 29. Check them out here.
The Daily Tar Heel broke the news this week that Sawasdee Thai Restaurant, with locations on Glenwood Avenue and Capital Boulevard in Raleigh, is launching a new restaurant in Chapel Hill at 110 N. Columbia St. in the site formerly occupied by Sakura Express (which closed after a 14-year run).

The next possible food truck on the scene here in the Triangle, Boricua Soul Food Truck, is in the midst of a Kickstarter campaign (and just a few dollars away from reaching their goal).

Mark your calendars

The next big food truck rodeo is in Durham on Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 6) at Durham Central Park. This one will be from noon until 4 p.m.

Tickets have gone on sale for one of the biggest foodie events around – the TerraVita Food & Drink Festival, which will be held in Chapel Hill Oct. 8-10. It simply can’t be missed.

Tickets are also on sale now for Beericana, a craft beer & music festival in Holly Springs on Sept. 12. Beericana is in its second year and all signs point to it being even better than last year. The festival will feature over 60 breweries from across the state and beyond, more food trucks than last year with at least 20 trucks. General admission tickets are $45 and VIP tickets are $75.
Academy Street Bistro and TOPO Distillery are partnering to host a cocktail party to benefit the Interfaith Food Shuttle on Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m. Attendees will enjoy four different cocktails, each with a different aged spirit from TOPO and heavy hors d’oeuvres. The cost is $20 per person. Make reservations by calling 919-377-0509.
You’ll want to go ahead and mark your calendar for the 2nd Annual Triangle Oktoberfest coming to Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre on Oct. 3 and 4. There will be some great authentic German fare as well as some amazing breweries.

And if you are into eating healthier, you might want to go ahead and get this event on your calendar – the 2015 Triangle Vegfest which will be held at Moore Square and City Market in downtown Raleigh on Oct. 17 from noon until 5 p.m.
