Food trucks, fast cars and hip hop lead this weekend's best bets

RALEIGH, N.C. — Two food truck rodeos and some fast cars top our best bets for this weekend!

SUMfest, a four-day charity music festival in downtown Raleigh, kicks off Thursday. Headliners this year include ZOSO and Sponge. Many local and state bands are also on the bill. Proceeds benefit the Isaac Hunter Foundation, Hospice of Wake County and C.A.R.E. NC. A weekend pass is $30 and a VIP pass is $60. You can get tickets just to the ZOSO show for $15.

The last Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo of the year is planned on Sunday. Head to Fayetteville Street from noon to 5 p.m. to check out more than 50 trucks. These rodeos have been hugely successful so definitely go early and expect some lines. The City Raleigh Museum will also be open and hosting activities.

North Hills will be the site of the Midtown Barbecue, Bluegrass and Brew on Saturday. There will be a barbecue sauce contest, a pie eating contest and local craft beer samples. Tickets are $8 in advance and $12 at the door. Children 10 and under get in for $5. VIP tickets are $30 and get you access to a special VIP tent with free wine, snacks and reserved seating. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit Diabetes Management Solutions.

The annual TerraVITA food and wine event kicks off Thursday and runs through Saturday. The highlight is always the Grand Tasting on the Green held at the Green in Southern Village in Chapel Hill. Sample delicious food alongside more than 100 sustainably produced beverages from around the globe. Tickets are $65 with alcoholic beverages and $50 without.

Are you ready to be seduced by speed? The North Carolina Museum of Art has the ticket with the Porsche by Design exhibit which kicks off Saturday. The 22 cars on display are owned by the likes of designer Ralph Lauren and the late Steve McQueen and Janis Joplin. The one-of-a-kind Panamericana concept car is even on loan from the Porsche Museum in Germany. Definitely a show that car enthusiasts and those who just love great art will enjoy. Porsche by Design runs through early next year. Museum members get in free and ticket prices for adults are $18.

Durham's favorite hip hop ambassadors Toon and the Real Laww are celebrating their Double EP release with a special show Friday at Kings Barcade in downtown Raleigh. They put on a great show! Even if you aren't a huge fan of hip hop, they are truly worth checking out. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 day of.

Le Tour de Femme 2013 - WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner is participating in this women's only cycling event, which starts and ends at Cycling Spoken Here in Cary. The ride benefits the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the local Angel Fund of Rex Hospital. 

Pop a Top at Rebus - One more food truck rodeo happening this weekend. This time at Rebus Works in Raleigh. There will be seven food trucks paired up with seen New Belgium canned beers. There will also be music, local art and craft vendors. The fun is from noon to 4 p.m.
