Fog, cold temps cause few issues during Thursday commute
Temperatures hovered near freezing throughout the early-morning hours in central and eastern North Carolina, but no major problems were reported on Triangle-area roads due to either ice or fog.

A dense fog advisory for several counties in the western Triangle is scheduled to expire at 10 a.m. The advisory includes Person, Granville, Vance, Orange, Durham, Chatham and Moore counties.
Schools in Wake, Durham, Orange, Johnston, Franklin, Vance, Person, Wayne and Wilson counties, among others, will start two hours late as a precaution. Warren County Schools are closed.
As fog clears out Thursday morning, the area could see sunshine briefly before another disturbance pushes into the state.
Clouds will return quickly, however, and light rain or drizzle will be back in the forecast for Thursday evening.
High temperatures will climb into the mid-40s during the afternoon despite the clouds.
Sunshine arrives in force for the final day of the work week, pushing daytime highs into the low 50s. It will stay put on Saturday as highs back down into the 40s.
"A coastal low is going to develop on Sunday and possibly bring us some rain, but it will all be rain because of temperatures in the 50s," Gardner said.
