Flyleaf hosts acclaimed middle grade authors, new books
Authors Megan Shepherd and John Claude Bemis will stop at the shop at 6 p.m., Thursday, to talk about their work and meet with readers.

Two acclaimed North Carolina authors of middle grade books, best generally for ages 8 to 12, will stop at Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill this week with their latest books.
Shepherd, who lives outside Asheville, debuted her first middle-grade novel this month. "The Secret Horses of Briar Hill" tells the story of Emmaline and the winged horses who live in the mirrors of Briar Hill Hospital. My 11-year-old daughter tore through this book when I gave it to her this month. She fell in love with it.
Shepherd is the New York Times bestselling author of young adult novels including "The Madman's Daughter" and "The Cave."
Bemis, who lives in Hillsborough, is an award-winning author, musician and educator. Novels include "The Prince Who Fell from the Sky" and the Clockwork Dark Trilogy.
His new book is "Out of Abaton: The Wooden Prince." Here's a description: "The automa Pinocchio has always been duty-bound to serve in the floating palace of Venice's emperor.
