Florida sex offender charged with sexual abuse in Cumberland County

A registered sex offender from Florida will go before a judge in Cumberland County Wednesday after being charged with sexual abuse in connection with incidents involving a 5-year-old.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A registered sex offender from Florida will go before a judge in Cumberland County Wednesday after being charged with sexual abuse in connection with incidents involving a 5-year-old. 

Jeremy John Wahl, 37, of Valparaiso, Fla., is charged with first-degree statutory sex offense, sexual act by a substitute parent and taking indecent liberties with a minor. 

According to investigators, Wahl assaulted the child multiple times between March 1 and April 2.

Wahl was in the Cumberland County jail Wednesday under a $250,000 bond after being extradited from a Florida jail.
