Flea market shooting suspect linked to death of sister
One of four suspects in a flea market shooting in Durham last weekend is facing misdemeanor charges for failing to secure firearms in the shooting death of his 13-year-old sister, police said Thursday.

Police say Rene Moreno, 17, who also goes by Rene Moreno-Lopez, was among those exchanging fire Sunday afternoon at Durham Green Flea Market on Pettigrew Street. He faces charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Two people were injured, and one man, 19, was still in the hospital Thursday.
Alexander Cardona, 17, and Sergio Adrian Barboza, 17, were also charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in the flea market shooting.
A fourth suspect, 17-year-old Irving Martinez, remains at large.
Moreno’s sister was fatally shot Nov. 1 with a gun police say he owned. They added charges Thursday of violating the storage of firearms to protect minors statute.
Police said Moreno lived in a house in the 1900 block of Faucette Avenue with his sister, Emily Lopez, 13, and a 15-year-old boy. The boy allegedly took Moreno's gun to school in May 2012 and shot Lopez with it on Nov. 1.
She died Nov. 5 at Duke University Hospital.
