Fishel: Still a chance for frozen precipitation Monday
Although trends today have not been the best for snow lovers looking ahead to next Monday and Tuesday, there is still a chance, and it might not take much to cause problems.
Posted — UpdatedRarely do we have several very cold days in North Carolina leading up to a frozen precipitation event, but this time we will. That means a cold ground and the chance that even if the snow changes to rain, it might just be freezing rain, at least for a while. Attached are chances for .25" of liquid equivalent of snow and/or sleet for both Monday and Tuesday, and the project surface weather maps for both days.
By Tuesday, the low pressure area is inland across South Carolina, and that is not a good track for winter weather lovers. An inland-moving low almost guarantees a changeover to rain, while a track farther east along the coast would be more favorable for snow. Stay tuned. This is still many days away!
