CLEVELAND, N.C. — Three Johnston County fire departments responded to a fire that swept through a mobile home and vehicles in a wooded area off Josephine Road in the Cleveland community early Saturday.

Calls about the fire in the 1500 block of Josephine Road came in around 4:20 a.m. Firefighters said they faced a "large fire" that had already engulfed several vehicles and destroyed a mobile home by the time they arrived.

Crews called in a foam truck from Selma and had to run hoses a half-mile to a water source. Sheriff's deputies closed Josephine Road, between Cleveland and Cornwallis roads, to prevent people from driving over the supply line. The road was reopened around 9:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire had not been determined but likely started inside the mobile home, investigators said Saturday afternoon.

Officials described the area where the fire broke out as a junkyard in woods, surrounded by residential communities on both sides.
