CARRBORO, N.C. — A small fire started at an Orange Water and Sewer Authority treatment plant Wednesday morning, but service wasn't affected, officials said.

The fire started at about 6:30 a.m. at OWASA’s Jones Ferry Road Water Treatment Plant. The fire affected control equipment for some pumps at the treatment plant, but other pumps remained in operation, officials said. OWASA continued to have adequate capacity to pump drinking water to customers, they said.

No employees were injured in the fire.

OWASA serves Chapel Hill, Carrboro and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
