DURHAM, N.C. — Fire heavily damaged a vacant home early Monday in Durham, authorities said.

Firefighters responded to an emergency call about the blaze at 2012 Ashe Street about 3:30 a.m., according to Sierra Jackson, a spokeswoman with the Durham Fire Department.

She said the fire did not appear to be suspicious and was ruled an accident. No one was in the home, which had boarded-up windows.

Fire crews remained at the scene for about two hours and 10 minutes, Jackson said.
