RALEIGH, N.C. — A breezy, cooler Sunday signaled the start of lower temperatures all week long in central North Carolina, making the weather finally feels like fall.

Temperatures dipped into the 30s and 40s across the region overnight, and residents awoke Monday to a chill in the air.

“We may end up with this being coolest morning so far this season, but it’s about time for this,” WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. “You’re going to need a jacket in the morning all week.”

The week ahead will have plenty of sunshine, low humidity and cooler temperatures. The warmest day of the week will be Tuesday, with an expected high of 73 degrees. The coolest day will be Wednesday at 63 degrees.

There is a potential for sprinkles Monday afternoon and Tuesday evening. Otherwise, conditions will be great, Gardner said.

“If you’re thinking about heading out to the fair, Saturday and Sunday both look fantastic,” she said.
