FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville woman has been charged with trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband, police said Monday.

Mary Ann Locklear McLamb, 45, of Cashiers Lane, was charged with soliciting another to commit a felony. She was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $10,000 bond.

Police said they received a tip that a woman wanted someone to kill her husband, so an undercover officer arranged a meeting with her. She told the officer that she wanted him to harm Dennis McLamb, 61, and she was taken into custody, police said.
