Fayetteville woman arrested in stolen vehicle after chase through Hope Mills
A Fayetteville woman led Hope Mills police on a high-speed chase Tuesday afternoon that ended in a crash and her arrest on stolen vehicle charges.

Rachel Marie Godwin, 28, of 1918 Gillespie St. in Fayetteville, was pulled over on John Brady Road for driving with an expired registration plate.
Officers found that the minivan she was driving was stolen and requested backup. As they waited, Godwin pulled away leading a parade of police vehicles through Hope Mills, into Fayetteville and then into Cumberland County towards Sampson County.
During the chase, she struck a dump truck and a Hope Mills police car.
Godwin faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, assault on a government official, damage to property, fleeing to elude, driving with a revoked license and hit and run.
