Fayetteville State briefly locked down after report of gunman

A gunman scare led to a brief lockdown on the campus of Fayetteville State University early Monday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A gunman scare led to a brief lockdown on the campus of Fayetteville State University early Monday.

Students received an automated alert about a possible gunman about 1:15 a.m. Police searched the campus but did not find anything. The lockdown was soon lifted, and the campus was given the all clear.

No other information was released.
