FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police were searching for a car that hit a student in a crosswalk in Fayetteville Tuesday morning.

The student was crossing Glensford Drive, near the south end of the school zone for Montclair Elementary School, shortly before 8 a.m. when he was hit. The southbound car hit him in the middle of the lane, and the driver slowed down briefly before leaving, police said.

The unidentified student suffered minor injuries and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment, police said.

The car that struck the child is described as an older-model, dark-colored four-door sedan. It was missing a hubcap on the front driver’s side, and as a result of the hit-and-run, the driver’s-side mirror might be hanging down from the mount, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1036 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).
