Fayetteville police investigate report of rape near Linear Park

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department's Special Victims Unit are investigating a rape reported Friday. The victim told police she was raped on Nov. 12 around 3 p.m. in Linear Park.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Special Victims Unit are investigating a rape reported Friday. The victim told police she was raped on Nov. 12 around 3 p.m. in Linear Park.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim was walking on the Linear Park Trail when she was attacked and raped by an unknown suspect.

The suspect was described a male in his mid to late 30s, approximately 6 feet tall, with a medium build and a light to medium skin complexion. The suspect was described as having a deep voice, a scar on his nose. He was clean shaven with a short hair style.

Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
