Fayetteville police ID woman who went missing in Cape Fear River
Fayetteville police have identified a 44-year-old woman who they believe was swept away by a current in the Cape Fear River Friday morning.
Posted — UpdatedFAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police have identified a 44-year-old woman who they believe was swept away by a current in the Cape Fear River Friday morning.
Witnesses told police the woman, Sheila Elizabeth Hathcock, entered the river at the Person Street Bridge around 8:45 a.m. Friday before being swept away by the current.
The Fayetteville Police Department's search and rescue team searched the river Friday and Saturday, but were unable to locate Hathcock's body.
No other details were released.
