FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police have arrested four members of an alleged shoplifting ring in Fayetteville.

Shante Levee Ferguson, 25, of 619 Cape Fear Ave., Danielle Monique Jones, 25, of 612 River Front Lane, Alexandra Gaberille McLaurin, 22, of 708 Blue St., and Gregory Arnold Sykes, 45, of 1032 Little Ave., are accused of stealing hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise, mostly frozen food and perishable items, on Tuesday from Aldi’s grocery store, Family Dollar and the Dollar General Store, all located on Ramsey Street.

Police responded to a shoplifting call at Aldi’s on Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. When officers arrived, the suspects had left and a suspect vehicle description was given.

After canvassing the area, officers located the vehicle at the Family Dollar. The suspects attempted to split up and flee on foot as they left the store but were apprehended by police, authorities said.

Each of the suspects is charged with felony conspiracy and larceny from a merchant, which is a new offense that involves the removal of security devices.

Ferguson was being held on a $4,500 bond, Jones under a $1,500 bond, McLaurin under a $2,500 bond and Sykes on a $7,500 bond. All remained in jail in Fayetteville on Wednesday.

Each of the suspects had prior criminal records, including larceny and shoplifting arrests.

In addition, Jones was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon in 2007. Sykes faced simple assault charges in 2004.
