Fayetteville pedestrian dies after being hit by car

A 53-year-old man was killed Monday night after he was hit by a car on Gillespie Street in Fayetteville, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 53-year-old man was killed Monday night after he was hit by a car on Gillespie Street in Fayetteville, police said.

According to investigators, the man walked into the path of a 1997 Geo traveling southbound in the 1900 block of Gillespie Street near Trade Street at about 8:30 p.m.

The pedestrian, whose name has not been released, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died.

Priscilla Harlan, of Hope Mills, was driving the car at the time of the wreck. She was not injured.

No other information about the incident has been released.
