FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville man was charged Thursday in a fatal hit-and-run on U.S. Highway 301 late Monday.

Jermaine Tammerine, 26, was charged with felony hit-and-run and driving while license revoked and was released on an unsecured bond, authorities said.

The State Highway Patrol said Zared Hurley, 18, of Parkton, was walking in the northbound lane of U.S. 301 near the Cumberland-Robeson county line at about 11 p.m. Monday when he was hit by a car. He died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The car that hit Hurley didn't stop, but troopers located it and Tammerine several hours later in Shannon.
