Father, son indicted in Granville County double-murder case
Detectives found items inside the charred home of a Granville County couple killed during a cross-country crime spree indicating the brutality of the crime, according to search warrants recently released in the case.

Edward Watson Campbell, 54, and Eric Alexander Campbell, 21, both of Alvin, Texas, face 10 charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and one count each of first-degree burglary, second-degree arson and identity theft in the deaths of Jerome Faulkner, 73, and his wife, Dora Faulkner, 62.
Authorities believe the Campbells stormed into the Faulkners' home, just north of Oxford, on the morning of Jan. 1, robbed them, set the house on fire and killed them before fleeing in both the couple's Chevrolet Silverado and a stolen SUV the Campbells allegedly used to drive to North Carolina from Texas.
Police arrested the father and son in Lewisburg, W.Va., about 200 miles northwest of Oxford, that evening following a shootout.
Granville County's sheriff has said that he believes the Faulkners were random targets. Investigators haven't said how they died.
Edward Campbell and Eric Campbell were also each indicted Monday on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle, financial card theft and two counts of cruelty to animals – charges stemming from the deaths of the Faulkners' two dogs.
Edward Campbell was returned to North Carolina last week. Eric Campbell is in police custody in West Virginia and awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
