Family tied up during Kinston home invasion

Police were searching Thursday for two men who burst into a Kinston home Wednesday evening and tied up a 74-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl.

KINSTON, N.C. — Police were searching Thursday for two men who burst into a Kinston home Wednesday evening and tied up a 74-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl.

A man told police that, while he was out of the house, his 3-year-old son answered the front door of their home in the 1400 block of Lockwood Road at about 6 p.m., and two men, one armed with a handgun, came inside.

The intruders tied up the man's aunt and his daughter and then rummaged through the home, the man told police. The 3-year-old wasn't tied up.

No one was injured, and it doesn't appear anything was taken from the home, police said.
