WILSON, N.C. — Three days after 19-year-old Trinity Williams was stabbed to death in a parking lot on Ward Boulevard in Wilson, more than 150 people gathered on Thursday to honor her with a vigil and balloon release.

"She was a wonderful person. She was a smart little girl. She was like a daughter to me," said Williams’ aunt, Kila Dickerson-Peloy. "It's a sad situation for her to go so young. She wasn't able to live her life."

Dozens of purple balloons floated in the sky in honor of Williams.

"We grew up together,” said Williams' cousin Ann'shiya Bell. “That was my best friend, my cousin, my sister, my other half, my heart.”

"To see something like this happen, I don't know what to say. It's time for us to stop doing this to each other over nothing," said Dickerson-Peloy.

Wilson police have not released a motive in Williams' death.

Her family said what happened was senseless.

"When I had no one else, that's who I went to," said Bell. "They took that away from me. That I can never get back. My cousin is gone forever."

Williams had one brother, three sisters and dozens of friends.

"She was a goofy person and always made us laugh," said Williams' sister London Bryant.

Her family said she wanted to be a model.

Speaking of the future was too much to handle for Williams' cousin Taylor King.

"We were talking about graduating and doing stuff this summer ... she was a bright star in my house," said King.

Williams' family and friends said justice can't come soon enough.

"We need to get together and not try to shoot and kill each other. Uplift each other at this point, not just come together when things happen," said Dickerson-Peloy.
