Get off the couch and get outside this Saturday at Festival in Motion, a celebration of the Triangle's natural beauty and resources. The festival will take place along the path of the Walnut Creek Greenway, but as the name suggests, the festival will slowly make its way to different locations along the trail.

Different activities will take place at each of the four locations, in addition to live music, vendors and food trucks:

  • Lake Johnson Park, 8 - 10:30 a.m.: Monster Weed Wrangling – help prep the site of the future nature education center (prizes given to the best wranglers!)
  • Eliza Pool Park, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Soccer clinic and decorated bike parade – let your imagination run wild and decorate your bike for the contest and parade
  • Walnut Creek Wetland Center, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Scavenger hunt, contests, music, food and fitness fun
  • Ralph Campbell Center, 12 - 4 p.m.: More family-friendly fun

The festival is also hosting the Urban Wetlands 5K, the "greenest urban off-road race in the Triangle," on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. There is also a 100-yard dash for children 8 and under. The races start at the Walnut Creek Wetland Center.
