Ex-summer camp manager gets prison time for child porn
An Orange County man who worked at a summer camp for children was sentenced Tuesday to 11 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography.
Posted — UpdatedBruce Howard Aycock, of 1520 Camp Circle in Chapel Hill, pleaded guilty in February. In addition to his prison sentence, he also was ordered to register as a sex offender.
Aycock was arrested in December following a two-month investigation that began after the Dropbox online file-sharing service tipped off the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Orange County deputies searched the home and the camp offices and seized several desktop and laptop computers, digital cameras, a video camera, CDs filled with photos, external hard drives, flash drives and other electronic devices, according to search warrants.
New Hope officials suspended Aycock when they learned of the allegations, and he later resigned as the camp's program director. Officials said they was no evidence that any children at the camp were depicted in the pornography.
