Fair trips can add up
With fees to park and enter, a trip to the State Fair can be expensive for some.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — With fees to park and enter, a trip to the State Fair can be expensive for some.
“Hopefully the kids will get tired by about 2 or 3 p.m. and we’ll save a little money,” John Carlin said Friday.
Carlin saved money by purchasing tickets in advance but still ended up spending around $110. Admission tickets are now $7 for an adult and $2 for children 6-years-old to 12-years-old. Children under 5-years-old and senior citizens get in the fair free.
Carlin’s wife, Diane, said the family expected to spend up to $250 at the fair.
Rides can also be a budget buster with some costing up to six $1 tickets.
Andy Davis thinks the fair prices can be a little high, especially for rides that last only a minute or more.
Some fairgoers say it is worth splurging a little at the fair.
“Is it worth it? Yeah, we always have a great time. The food is good,” John Carlin said.
