Sadiki Young, 18, was riding in a car that wrecked off of Wakefield Plantation Drive and tumbled down an embankment in January 2007. The teen driver was charged with involuntary manslaughter and drunken driving.
The Christ Episcopal Church Youth, in which Young was a member, began holding the run a year after his death.
The Run for Young 5K's goal is to help raise awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving. Proceeds go to the Wakefield High School's Just Think First Program and the Christ Church Youth Ministry Endowment Fund.
The run kicks off at 10 a.m. It starts and ends at Christ Church, 120 Edenton St.
