No shortage of pre-turkey happenings in town

Live music, a Bud Light bar crawl, and even a Turkey Trot are options before your Thanksgiving dinner this year.

Whether you're staying in town for the Thanksgiving holiday or you're a Raleigh native making the annual pilgrimage back to town, there is certainly no reason to spend this evening or tomorrow holding down the couch with Uncle Bob.

Tonight, there are several options in downtown Raleigh for live music and libations:

  • Who's Bad at Lincoln Theatre ($18) - Formed in Chapel Hill, NC, Who's Bad carries on the legacy of Michael Jackson's music for the next generation. The band recreates the music, choreography and legendary showmanship of Michael Jackson, from his days in the Jackson 5 through 'Off the Wall' and 'Thriller' to 'Invincible'
  • Amra's annual Pre-Thanksgiving Bash features live music by The Stone Age Romeos, rockin' from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
  • The Bud Babes of Raleigh are orchestrating a bar crawl, stopping at East Village and Glenwood South's Lucky B's (who also happens to have $1 drafts, beer pong, and flip cup lined up for patrons)
On Thanksgiving morning, those who want to counteract the effects of fried turkey and all the trimmings can get a great workout in and support the Eastern NC Chapter of the National MS Society with Ridgewood Shopping Center's annual 8k Turkey Trot, complete with competitive and fun runs. The whole family, kids included, can get in on this one. Bonus: the WRAL Weather Center is forecasting Thursday's weather to be "not too cool or too warm, but just right". We'll take it!
