A 27-year-old Enfield man is facing multiple charges after authorities said he threatened a woman with a baseball bat.

Halifax County Sheriff deputies said Friday they were called Wednesday to a home on Whitehead Road by the woman, who said the suspect had threatened her with the bat and also had a shotgun. The woman fled the home and had phoned authorities from a neighbor’s house.

Deputies said they arrived and could see the man, identified as Timothy Bobbit, peeking out of the front window. Bobbit opened the door and partially came out to speak with the deputies, who rushed inside.

Deputies said Bobbit was “aggressive and irate,” and they could see a baseball bat on a bed. When Bobbit attempted to enter the bedroom, Deputy Dreher Bozard deployed his Taser on the suspect.

Authorities said they found potted marijuana plants in the home.

Bobbit was charged with three counts of resisting a public officer, one count of manufacture of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and communicating threats. He was held on $30,000 bond and a scheduled for a Nov. 14 court appearance.
