RALEIGH, N.C. — A Durham woman has been arrested on accusations that she altered police reports to commit insurance fraud.

Mary Teresa Whitman Few, 43, of 3729 Cambridge Road, was jailed Thursday under a $10,000 secured bond on one felony count each of insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Investigators with the North Carolina Department of Insurance in Raleigh said Few submitted a police report in March to American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida for a $3,950 insurance claim, but the report was different than the official report from the Durham Police Department.

A claims adjuster also discovered differences in police reports involving a 2011 stolen-property claim in which Few was paid $9,371.36.
