DURHAM, N.C. — A hit-and-run accident left a Durham teenager with serious injuries Saturday afternoon, said police.

Rose Ivy, 17, of Glendale Avenue, was hit while crossing North Duke Street near Glendale Avenue around 1:30 p.m., police said. Witnesses said that a northbound gray Chevrolet Cavalier hit Ivy.

The driver, Ashley Ravella, 25, of Dover Road, fled the scene but came back 20 minutes later, police said.

Ivy was taken to Duke University Hospital with serious injuries to her head and arms. She remained in critical condition Monday, said officials.

Police arrested Ravella and charged her with felony hit-and-run.
