Durham shooting victim identified

The 18-year-old who was found shot to death Monday afternoon on a Durham street corner has been identified, police said Tuesday.

DURHAM, N.C. — The 18-year-old who was found shot to death Monday afternoon on a Durham street corner has been identified, police said Tuesday.

Officers responded to a call about a disturbance with a weapon near the intersection of Allgood Street and Belvin Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found Jonathan Royster, of Piper Street, lying in the street, police said.

Royster was pronounced dead at the scene.

A person was seen fleeing the scene on foot, but police didn't release any description of the suspected gunman.
