Durham science museum focuses on sunny days, UV rays
From 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., through Saturday, the Durham museum's lab is offering some lessons and information about the sun and UV rays.

One of my kids used to call sunscreen, "sunscream." And for good reason. She screamed every time I put it on her.
If you have a kid like that ... or an older one who balks at lathering the stuff on ... take them over to the Museum of Life and Science's Sunny Days. From 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., through Saturday, the Durham museum's lab is offering some lessons and information about the sun and UV rays.
In the lab, visitors will use UV-sensitive plastic to test the UV protection of sunglasses, sunscreens and clothing to see if they block out harmful rays. Visitors also can make a UV-detecting bracelet to take home.
It's free with admission, which is $14.50 for adults and $10 for kids ages 3 to 12.
