Durham Rescue Mission serves thousands at Easter feast
Almost 2,000 people dined on barbecue pork and hot dogs Friday at the annual Durham Rescue Mission Easter feast.
Posted — UpdatedDURHAM, N.C. — Almost 2,000 people dined on barbecue pork and hot dogs Friday at the annual Durham Rescue Mission Easter feast.
The Mission also distributed 1,325 Easter baskets and bags of food and clothing to those in need. The baskets were donated in the last week by members of the community.
Grills were lit at about 7 p.m. Thursday to begin prepping the massive meal, and volunteers worked throughout the morning to finish the feast.
The Durham Rescue Mission is the Triangle’s largest and oldest shelter providing free food, safe shelter, clean clothing, counsel, vocational training and job placement for more than 350 men, women, and children 365 days a year.
