Durham Police Seek Public's Help in Robbery, Kidnapping Case

Two women with an 8-month-old child in the car parked in front of the store around 9:20 p.m., police said. One woman went into the store while the second woman stayed in the car with the child who was in a car seat in the backseat.

A few seconds later, a male knocked on the passenger side window and pointed a pump shotgun at the female, according to authorities. The male opened the passenger door, pointed the gun at the female’s head and pulled her from the vehicle. The male was accompanied by a second male, officials said.

The males got in the vehicle and drove out of the parking lot with the baby still inside the car. A few minutes later the baby, who was still in his car seat, was found safe in the middle of the road on Burlington Avenue near N.C. 55.

Officers spotted the vehicle – a white 2005 Chevrolet Impala – a short time later on Summit Street and tried to stop it, but the driver refused to stop. The driver jumped out and ran when the car crashed into the side of a house.

One the males is described as a dark-complected black male, 16 to 18 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 150 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a multi-colored hoodie pulled up over his mouth and nose.

The second male is described as a black male, 16 to 18 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and 150 to 160 pounds.
